Privacy Policy
Last Updated: January 3, 2026 Version: 1.0.0
Your privacy is the core of our “Device-Only” philosophy. This policy explains what information we collect, what we don’t, and how we keep your data secure.
1. The “Device-Only” Architecture
Unlike traditional apps, MySchools App does not use a central backend to store your personal school data.
- Local Storage: Your school login credentials (usernames and passwords), your children’s information, grades, and school notices are stored exclusively on your mobile device.
- No Server Access: This data is never transmitted to, stored on, or processed by our servers. We cannot see your passwords, and we cannot access your school data.
2. Information We Collect
We only collect the minimum information necessary to provide and improve the service:
A. School Addition Requests When you manually request the addition of a new school, we collect:
- School Name, City, and Country.
- The Portal Web Address.
- Your Email Address (to notify you when the school is added). This data is transmitted to our team for processing and is stored securely in our request database.
B. Anonymous Usage Analytics With your consent, we use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous technical data, such as:
- App launch frequency.
- Features used (e.g., how often the “Notices” tab is opened).
- Crash reports and performance metrics. This data is anonymous and does not contain any personal information, school names, or credentials. You can opt-out at any time in the Settings menu.
C. Push Notifications We use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to send you updates. This involves the storage of an anonymous device token. This token identifies your device to the notification service but is not linked to your identity or school data.
3. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)
While the app facilitates access to school data involving children, it is designed for use by parents and guardians. Because of our “Device-Only” architecture, we do not “collect” or store personal information from children on our servers. We comply with COPPA requirements by ensuring all sensitive data remains under the user’s physical control on their device.
4. Data Security
We use industry-standard encryption and secure storage mechanisms provided by your mobile operating system (e.g., iOS Keychain, Android Keystore) to protect your credentials at rest.
5. Data Deletion
- Local Data: Since your data is local, deleting the MySchools App from your device will permanently erase all credentials and cached school information.
- Request Data: To request the deletion of a school addition request you submitted, please contact us at privacy@myschools.app.
6. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at support@myschools.app.
